Summer Adventures

It's been a while since I updated! So, here is a quick summer update. It's been quite a hot one, so we've spent lots of time in the kiddie pool and reluctantly moved indoors for much of the day for a few weeks.

Once the rain arrived, we were so eager to be outside that we did a simple art project so we could be outside enjoying the feel of the rain!
Using crushed up watercolors, the boys sprinkled paint on paper and let the the rain do the 'painting'.

The boys are obsessed with trains these days and train tracks get more and more elaborate taking over the whole kitchen. It's amazing how much of a day can be spent playing trains! Jude doesn't quite have the hang of how to keep his trains from falling off the tracks so he gets pretty frustrated trying to keep up with his big brother. We also spend lots of time discussing how to handle 'traffic jams' on the tracks. When the weather does cool down outside we go outside and the boys jump on scooters and pretend to be various trains while I direct them acting as 'Sir Topham Hatt".
Jude is just beginning to really enjoy books. He's memorized quite a few lines and loves to sit and ramble off the few lines he knows while turning the pages. He's such a big boy!
We also hit the beach (in the early morning). Cal is a whole new boy this summer when it comes to the waves. Last year, he was timid around the waves and really only wanted to watch them roll in. This year, he was eager to run and play with the waves yelling "Come on Papa!!" He loved getting wet...wasn't ready to swim but certainly got closer than ever before to embracing the ocean.
Jude was a cool dude, content to watch his brother bounce around in the waves and chose to run circles in the sand imitating Callum in the water.
It's been a great summer so far! We are hoping for a break in the heat but it's been fantastic to have the boys at an age when we can head out on more adventures and fully enjoy a summer full of activity!
